Hi I'm Ray Tugwell & this is my story of how I got in to land rovers.

It all started one wet summer at a scout camp. One of my scout leaders had just bought himself a series 3 lwb ex army land rover and I was surprised to see that this old land rover just didn't get stuck in the mud, after all the other vehicles had (cars vans & a coach!). I was even more surprised when the land rover then proceeded to pull out all the other vehicles, I must have been impressed for I decided there & then that I must have one of them (I've now had several I must be mad?). Some years later I was made redundant! 2.5k in hand yippee (I must spend this wisely after all I no longer have a job!) two or three days later I've brought my first land rover a 109 series 3 safari that was fun so I then bought a series 1 & then a 1980 range rover. These were ok, but then I saw a 101 in a magazine oh I've got to get one & so I did, much to the delight of the neighbours (he's gone mad & bought him self a lorry!). Next I bought a lightweight which was also fun , then was told of a 1976 rangie going cheap, of course I had to get it & off road it! I think I just about dented every panel on that one until the rust worm eventually got the best of the sills & body mountings, but the chassis was still good, which was better than the lightweights which had gone rusty! BING oh dear you can see where this is going, project time! Just chop 12 inches out of the range rover chassis & then fit the lightweight body! easy? So i thought i'd just slip in a diesel engine from a transit & also a LT 77 gearbox just to make thing's interesting, project is coming a long nicely will give full story when finished, if it ever does?
